Othello - Act IV

All through the play thus far, Iago has been seen by the characters in the play as this person who is completely honest and trying to be a friend to everyone.  As the audience knows, he is just trying to trick them all just so he is willing to get what he wants.  In this act, Iago has definitely convinced Othello that Desdemona is cheating on him.  Othello believes him and is planning out how to kill Desdemona and Cassio.  Desdemona really has no idea what is going on, but she thinks of Iago as this honest man too.  Cassio thinks that Iago is being a kind friend to him.  I don't really know what Lodovico's opinion of Iago is.  Othello is not the only person that is deceived by Iago.  Roderigo, Cassio, Othello, and Desdemona have all been tricked in one way or another by Iago.  Yes, I believe that his own wife does think that he is capable of being a villain.  Iago and Emilia hate each other, and they don't really trust each other either.
